Using Cyberduck to Connect to Stevenson's SFTP Server

Summary: Instructions for downloading and installing Cyberduck, and connecting to Adlai E. Stevenson High School's public SFTP server.

Cyberduck is an FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, S3, Backblaze B2, Azure, and OpenStack Swift browser for Mac and Windows.

Download Cyberduck

To download Cyberduck, visit Then click the Download Cyberduck for Mac link.

Install Cyberduck

Once the Cyberduck download finishes, go your Downloads folder, and drag the Cyberduck application to your Applications folder (Macintosh HD > Applications).

Using Cyberduck

In your Applications folder, double-click the Cyberduck icon to launch.

Once Cyberduck launches, click the Open Connection button in the upper-left corner.

In the window that opens, enter the information as follows (or see the image below), then click the Connect button.

Uncheck Add to Keychain

The first time you connect to Adlai E. Stevenson High School’s SFTP server, an Unknown Fingerprint alert will pop up. Check the Always box, and click the Allow button.

Cyberduck is now connected to Adlai E. Stevenson High School's SFTP server. To transfer items from the SFTP server to your local computer, simply select the item(s) you wish to download, and drag them to the Desktop (or the location you wish to download the file(s) to).

When finished, terminate the connect to the SFTP server by clicking the Disconnect button in the upper right corner of the Cyberduck window.
