To access Adlai E. Stevenson High School's VPN service, you must have a VPN account. If you do not have a VPN account, you will need to submit a WebHelpDesk ticket requesting access and detailing what services you need access to. All requests for VPN access will need director approval.
Install the Cisco AnyConnect Client
From on-campus, please visit Information Services to have the Cisco AnyConnect Client installed on your laptop. Once the installation is complete, you can find the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client inside your Applications folder (Macintosh HD > Applications > Cisco > Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client). You can now skip ahead to the Configuration of the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobile Client section of this document.
From off-campus, visit the following URL: https://shs-asa.d125.org
Once the page loads, select the AESHS-Employee group (or the group you have been told you belong to) from the drop-down menu, and enter the login credentials provided to you.
Once successfully logged in, you will be presented with a warning regarding connecting to Adlai E. Stevenson High School's VPN. Click the Continue button.
The SHS-ASA website will then request to use the Java plugin. Click the Trust button to allow, and continue the installation process.
The Java plugin will ask for permission to continue, click the Continue button. The Java plugin will then ask for permission to run, click the Run button. Finally, Java will give a Security Warning, click the Allow button.
After a few seconds, the web-based installation process will fail on the Mac, you will be presented with the option for a Manual Installation. Click the Mac OS X 10.8+ (Intel) link to download the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. It should (depending on your settings) download the installer to your Downloads folder.
In your Downloads folder, you will see a file named (something similar to) anyconnect-macosx-3.1.07021-web-deploy-k9.dmg. Double-click this file, and a new window will open. Double-click the vpn.pkg file in the window that opens to install the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. Follow the directions to complete the installation.
Once the installation is complete, you will find the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client in your Applications folder (Macintosh HD > Applications)
Launch the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobilty Client (Macintosh HD > Applications > Cisco). However, before you can connect to AESHS VPN, you will need to do a quick configuration.
Go to the menubar and choose Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client > Preferences. Make sure all checkboxes are unchecked, and close the window.
If the field in the open window is blank, enter shs-asa.d125.org.
You are now ready to connect to Adlai E. Stevenson High School VPN.
Connecting to VPN with the Cisco AnyConnect Mobile Client
If the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client (Macintosh HD > Applications > Cisco) is not open, launch it.
Click the Connect button.
If you are presented with a window to trust the SHS-ASA Server, click the Connect Anyway button. NOTE: This should only pop-up upon connecting to the VPN service for the first time.
A login window will appear, choose the AESHS-Employees group (or whichever group you are a member of) from the drop-down menu, enter login credentials provided to you, and click OK.
Once you have successfully connected, the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client will show that you are connected.
When you are finished with your VPN connection, click the Disconnect button to terminate your VPN connection.
